Featured Habitats Welcome to Greenleap's Featured Habitats area! In this section of the site, you may explore spaces from the tropical to the temperate. Learn more about how habitats across the globe play host to precious and unique ecosystems, as well as what they mean to humanity. Though we only have two major habitats featured presently, we hope to expand this area further over time. For now, we hope you find these featured habitats both fun and interesting. Trees and Forests: In the last 8 centuries, 40 percent of the Earth's forest cover has been destroyed. Known as the "lungs of the Earth," since they consume CO2 and replenish the atmosphere with oxygen, forested lands are dwindling at an alarming rate. Learn more about what's happening to forests worldwide in this section of Greenleap. Oceans and Seas: The world's oceans are facing serious threats. Climate change, pollutant run-off, over fishing and reef destruction are all jeopardizing the health of our oceans.
