This week, European Union and Japanese businesses issued a collective statement saying they strongly support efforts to resolve the Kyoto Protocol on global warming. According to reports, business executives from both areas of the world concluded that a global framework for the environment is a top priority, and that global warming demands international attention. However, some industry leaders still believe that complying with greenhouse gas regulations outlined in the Kyoto plan could create a disadvantage for their businesses against those in countries that do not choose to comply with the rules. These concerns further emphasize the importance of international agreement on the issue of climate change so that industry and humanity may both benefit worldwide.
